Nevis’ Jade Rypkema set the pace at the Detroit Lakes Triangular cross country meet on Thursday (Sept. 10) for her third first-place finish in three meets this fall.
Rypkema covered the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 3 seconds as the Tigers placed third in the girls meet with 61 points. Rypkema was the No. 2-rated runner in the first state Class A poll. Perham, the top-rated Class A team in the state, had the next seven runners to win the title with 20 points while the host Lakers were second with 59 points.
Molly Lindow (16th in 24:05), Addison Lindow (17th in 24:22), Emily Funk (17th in 26:14) and Savannah Anderson (18th in 26:27) rounded out Nevis’ team score. Amber Gabriel was 19th in 29:59 to round out the Tigers’ varsity squad.
In the boys meet, Perham had seven runners in the top 11 spots to capture the team title with 23 points. Nevis followed with 47 points while Detroit Lakes was third with 64 points.
Evan Pohl was third in 17:51, Jack McNamee followed in fourth in 17:51 and George Bjorklund finished sixth in 18:08 to lead the Tigers. Jack Johnson (16th in 20:12) and Daniel Lindow (18th in 20:32) completed Nevis’ team score while Reese Mowell (20th in 20:48) rounded out the Tigers’ varsity squad.
Carson Hespe and Jakob McCleary led the No. 2-rated Yellowjackets to the team title with respective times of 17:10 and 17:42 on the 5K course around Mollberg Field.
